NBC News, that hallmark of morality, has established a site asking, "Even those who care deeply about the planet's future can slip up now and then. Tell us: Where do you fall short in preventing climate change?"
I confess that, when "climate change" - formerly, "global warming," and, before that, "global cooling" - is the "sin," I am an unrepentant heretic.
First of all, this makes a mockery of the mystery (aka, "sacrament") of confession. Second, it moves the question of what is, or is not, taking place with regard to the climate from the realm of science, establishing a dogma from which dissent cannot, and will not, be permitted. (The figurative burning at the stake of those who question the dogma of AGW - anthropogenic global warming - is already underway.)
AGW - global warming caused by human activities - is flawed in so many ways. It drives and is in turn driven by, a political agenda which perverts science to achieve its own ends. There have been repeated instances of data being ignored or "smoothed" or, in some instances, invented in order to "demonstrate" the essentiality of radically changing (and taxing) our use of fossil fuels in order to "save" the planet. The truth is that the climate is constantly changing: climate, the accumulated pattern of the moment-by-moment weather, expresses the continual operation of the tendency of nature to seek a balance it can never achieve because of the complexity and size of the various subsystems in operation above and around the world. This, to call it "climate change" is a disingenuous attempt to disguise the fact that, despite predictions going back to the 1970's, every prediction about a coming climate catastrophe caused by human activities has been flat-out wrong. Why would anyone believe the forecasts which have such a track record? Perhaps that is why the proponents of AGW are now refusing to consider the possibility that they are in error, and seek instead to silence those who dare to continue to point out that the available data (which goes back thousands of years) demonstrates that it is highly, even extremely, unlikely that humans are capable of inducing so-called "climate change."
"Climate Change" is a New Age religion. Don't be deceived.
